• Beschreibung: Omega-Conotoxin GVIA is a type of toxin from the venom of the marine snail Conus geographus. It binds to the kappa-opioid receptor, which is found on neurons in the central and peripheral nervous system. This binding inhibits voltage-dependent calcium channels and leads to neuronal death. Omega-Conotoxin GVIA has been shown to inhibit diastolic pressure in rats, as well as glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and kappa-opioid receptors in mice. The inhibition of GFR may be due to its effect on Ca2+ signaling, leading to decreased activity of the Na/K ATPase pump in proximal tubules.
