Beschreibung

1-Chloro-2-(methylsulfonyl)ethane is a thioether that is used as an elastomer. It has been shown to have the ability to actuate at a frequency that was scalable and could be tuned by changing the dipole. 1-Chloro-2-(methylsulfonyl)ethane can be synthesized in two steps from vinyl chloride, which is available in large quantities. This compound has been shown to have a transition temperature of about -30°C and an impedance value of about 100 ohms. The synthetic strategy for this compound can be applied to other molecules, such as polymers, with systematic changes in the substituents on the molecule.
