5-Chloro-3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid is a pyrazole compound that can be used to synthesize skeletons. It contains a pyridine ring, which is an aromatic heterocycle with six carbon atoms and one nitrogen atom. This compound has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth and may be active against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 5-Chloro-3-methyl-1-phenylpyrazole is also an effective inhibitor of the enzyme polyphosphate phosphohydrolase, which catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATP to ADP with the release of phosphate. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to the accumulation of polyphosphate in bacteria, which causes cell death by interfering with cellular metabolism.
