- (5-chloro-2-nitrophenyl)-
5-Chloro-2-nitrophenylhydrazine (5CNP) is a reactive, chlorine-containing molecule that has been shown to form covalent bonds. It is an amine with a chlorine atom in the 5th position. The molecular modeling study of 5CNP showed that it can act as a nucleophile and react with an electron-deficient acceptor to form a cyclic intermediate. This reaction can be induced by activating the phenyl hydrazine through electrophilic substitution or cyclodehydration, which produces an alicyclic intermediate with two adjacent chlorine atoms.
