2-Chloro-4-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde is a multipoint antibiotic that inhibits the growth of Enterobacteriaceae. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against these bacteria, which are resistant to metal ions and ligands, such as chloramphenicol, tetracycline, erythromycin, and trimethoprim. 2-Chloro-4-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde is a protonated form of glycinate. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of organisms such as Taeniaeformis and Plates by inhibiting protein synthesis and DNA synthesis.
