This drug is also active against viruses, including herpes simplex virus and human immunodeficiency virus type 1, as well as fungi, such as Aspergillus niger. 2CHAA has no genotoxic effects in humans, but it does have carcinogenic potential and can cause allergic reactions. It also reacts with strong acids to form toxic compounds.
