Beschreibung

Thiabendazole is an antiparasitic drug that belongs to the class of fatty acid derivatives. It is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform, benzene, and acetone. Thiabendazole inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids by inhibiting the enzyme fatty acid synthase. It binds to the active site of this enzyme and prevents its function. The activity of thiabendazole can be detected using specific primers for DNA polymerase chain reaction with amines as a substrate. It also has preservative properties against gram-positive bacteria, which are due to its ability to inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis and protein synthesis.
