Beschreibung:
1-Chloroethyl ethyl carbonate (1-CEEC) is a prodrug that is metabolized to 1-chloroethyl acetate, which has antibacterial activity. The acetonitrile in 1-CEEC inhibits the growth of bacteria by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. It was shown statistically to be more effective than dilution as a method of killing test organisms. The potency of 1-CEEC increased with higher dilutions, and it had an antibacterial efficacy greater than 90% at a concentration of 0.1%.
