Beschreibung

4-Chloro-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridine (4CP) is a bicyclic heterocycle that exhibits antimycobacterial activity. It inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in vivo and is active against other human mycobacteria. 4CP has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines by binding to bacterial ribosomes. It also binds to mammalian cells and inhibits the enzymes that synthesize purine nucleotides and pyrimidine nucleotides. The drug has been shown to be an inhibitor of 7-deazapurine, which are analogs of deoxyadenosine that are incorporated into DNA during synthesis.
