Produktinformation
2-Chloroethanol is an organic compound that belongs to the group of chlorohydrins. It is mainly used as an analytical reagent in the determination of ethylene and as a solvent for natural compounds and tissue culture. 2-Chloroethanol has been found to induce autoimmune diseases by binding to tissues with high concentrations of fatty acids, such as the pancreas, lung, kidney, or liver. The thermal expansion coefficient of 2-chloroethanol is about 3.8 times greater than water and 3 times greater than ethanol. This property makes it useful for sample preparation during thermogravimetric analysis. 2-Chloroethanol can also be used as a probe molecule in pharmacokinetics studies to measure body mass index (BMI). It has been shown that 2-chloroethanol can affect signal pathways related to cell proliferation and apoptosis through MAPKs activation and signal transduction pathways.
