Beschreibung

2-Cyclohexylethenylboronic acid is an intermediate in the synthesis of petasis, a drug that is used to treat epilepsy. This compound is enantioenriched and diastereoselectively synthesized from 2-bromoethanol and cyclohexene with sodium acetate as the catalyst. The method for synthesis includes the addition of boron trifluoride etherate to the reaction mixture, which produces aldehydes in an enantiomeric ratio of greater than 99%.
