Calcium sulfate hemihydrate is a calcium salt of sulfurous acid. It has been shown to be an effective agent for the treatment of bowel disease, as well as other diseases such as autoimmune diseases and clinical properties. Calcium sulfate hemihydrate has a phase transition temperature that ranges from about 60-110°C. This compound is used in wastewater treatment and is most effective when the concentration is between 0.1-1%. Calcium sulfate hemihydrate reacts with water vapor to form calcium sulfite, which then reacts with copper chloride to form copper sulfate and sulfur dioxide gas. The reaction mechanism is similar to that of hydrogen peroxide and sodium hypochlorite.
