This agent has been shown to be useful in the diagnosis of myocardial infarcts and parapneumonic effusions. 4-Cyclohexylproline has shown no adverse reactions when used in humans, but may cause allergic reactions in some patients. 4-Cyclohexylproline also inhibits enzymes, such as tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and cathepsin G, which are involved in blood clotting. The use of 4-cyclohexylproline is limited by its metal ion dependence and specificity for tissue plasminogen activator (tPA).
