Beschreibung

Chlorpyrifos-methyl is a pesticide that belongs to the group of organophosphates. It inhibits the activity of cholinesterase, an enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine at synapses, by binding to the active site of this enzyme. Chlorpyrifos-methyl has been shown to be highly resistant to degradation and has a detection sensitivity of 0.1 ppb in organic solvents such as acetone or acetate buffer. The rate constant for chlorpyrifos-methyl is 3 x 10 M/s. Chlorpyrifos-methyl is used in kinetic data analysis and is typically detected with colloidal gold or silver staining techniques. It binds strongly to protein samples, which means matrix effects are important when analyzing it.
