Beschreibung:Ceramide is a fatty acid that is an important component of cell membranes. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes such as phospholipase A2 and lipoxygenase, which are involved in inflammatory reactions. Ceramide can also be used to diagnose infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis and malaria. The diagnostic procedure involves measuring the enzyme activities of ceramidase and lysosomal sphingomyelinase with the help of a radioactive substrate.
