• Beschreibung: Calcipotriol is a vitamin D analogue that is used to treat psoriasis. It is classified as an aprotic solvent and is not soluble in water, but it dissolves in organic solvents. Calcipotriol binds to the receptor for nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) and inhibits its activation, which suppresses the production of cytokines that are involved in inflammation and immune responses. The calcipotriol molecule has been shown to inhibit EGFR signaling, thereby suppressing tumor growth. This drug has also been shown to be effective in combination therapy with other drugs such as dithranol or anthralin for the treatment of psoriasis. Calcipotriol can be administered topically or by oral administration. It is usually applied twice daily and the dosage depends on the severity of the disease.
