Beschreibung:Carbenoxolone disodium is a glycol ester that inhibits the P2Y receptor in microglial cells and astrocytes. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on the central nervous system by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Carbenoxolone sodium, which is a related compound, was shown to have protective effects in mouse models of autoimmune diseases. This drug also protects against neuronal death induced by seizure activity and autophagy induced by starvation. Carbenoxolone disodium has been shown to cause cardiac toxicity and liver damage when administered at high doses.
