• Beschreibung: (-)-2b-Carbomethoxy-3b-(4-iodophenyl)nortropane is a serotonin agonist that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of dysthymia and depression in women. It is a serotonergic agent that binds to serotonin receptors, as well as dopamine receptors, which are involved in the regulation of mood. (-)-2b-Carbomethoxy-3b-(4-iodophenyl)nortropane inhibits the reuptake of serotonin, which leads to an increase in the extracellular concentration of serotonin. This agent also has alkylation properties and can form adducts with thiol groups on proteins, such as 5-HT receptors. A positron emission tomography (PET) study found that (-)-2b-Carbomethoxy-3b-(4-iodophenyl)nortropane is a potent radiotracer for mapping the serotonin transporter system
