Beschreibung

Celecoxib is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is used to relieve pain, inflammation, and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis. It may be used to relieve the pain of menstrual cramps or to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor. Celecoxib is a member of the coxib class of drugs, which are selective inhibitors of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). COX-2 normally converts arachidonic acid into prostaglandins, some of which help regulate inflammation. Celecoxib has been shown to have a plasma concentration-time curve that is best described by a two-compartment model with first order absorption and elimination. The major metabolite in humans is celecoxib carboxylic acid glucuronide conjugate. This metabolite is excreted in urine and faeces.
