Beschreibung

1-(4-Chlorophenyl)cyclobutane carbonitrile is an inhibitor of monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) and dopamine reuptake. It has been used as a potential treatment for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The binding of 1-(4-Chlorophenyl)cyclobutane carbonitrile to MAO-B was studied in kinetic data and hybridization studies. The results showed that the drug binds to the enzyme with high affinity, and that it has a higher affinity for MAO-B than for the other two isoforms of this enzyme. In addition, 1-(4-Chlorophenyl)cyclobutane carbonitrile is a bifunctional molecule, which means it can bind to two different enzymes at the same time.
