5-Chloroindole-2-carboxylic acid is a fatty acid that is synthesized from glucose. It has been shown to have inhibitory properties against the enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which may be due to its ability to suppress prostaglandin synthesis. 5-Chloroindole-2-carboxylic acid also has been shown to have anticancer properties and can inhibit cancer cell growth in vitro.
