4-Chloro-6,7-bis(2-methoxyethoxy)-quinazoline is a synthetic compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It reacts with hydrochloric acid in the stomach to form a chloride salt, which can be absorbed into the bloodstream and transported to various organs. The compound binds to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), which is a molecule involved in cell growth and proliferation. This binding prevents the activation of EGFR by epidermal growth factor (EGF). 4-Chloro-6,7-bis(2-methoxyethoxy)-quinazoline can also be orally administered to inhibit the growth of pancreatic cancer cells.
