Beschreibung

Cyclooctene oxide is a chemical compound that contains one oxygen atom and eight carbon atoms. It is a colorless liquid with a pleasant, fruity odor. Cyclooctene oxide is used as an industrial solvent and a raw material for the manufacture of other chemicals. The compound has been used as catalyst in the oxidation of epoxides to produce cyclohexanone oxime. Cyclooctene oxide is also known to react with hydrogen peroxide to produce hydrogen peroxide and cyclohexene dioxide, which can be used as an oxidizing agent.
