• Beschreibung: Cefdinir-15N2,13C is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the penicillin family of drugs. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to cefdinir, its active form. Cefdinir-15N2,13C has been shown to be effective against bacterial rhinosinusitis and streptococcal pharyngitis in pediatric patients. The drug binds to the penicillin-binding protein (PBP) and inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by blocking transpeptidase activity. This prevents the cross linking of peptidoglycan chains and leads to cell death. Cefdinir-15N2,13C has also been shown to have no effect on human serum proteins or human erythrocytes when compared with other drugs in the same class.
