4-Chloro-2-pyridinecarbaldehyde is a kinetic fluorescent probe that reacts with nucleophilic amines. It has a linear response in the range of 10-100 μM and fluorescence properties that are sensitive to pH. 4-Chloro-2-pyridinecarbaldehyde is used as a fluorescence probe for the detection and identification of biomolecules. It can be used for the determination of ethylene acetal concentrations in wastewater, as well as for the alkylation of proteins. This chemical also exhibits excellent fluorescence properties and can be used as a substrate for thiosemicarbazide.
