Beschreibung

Citromycetin is a natural product that belongs to the class of diterpene antibiotics. It is an endophytic fungus that has been isolated from several plant species. Citromycetin inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines and has been shown to have anticancer activity by inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. Citromycetin also binds to DNA and inhibits transcription, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the phosphatase PTP1B. The structure of citromycetin was elucidated using a monoclonal antibody and mass spectrometry. Citromycetin has been shown to inhibit alpha-synuclein aggregation in vitro and in vivo, which may be responsible for its anti-neurodegenerative properties.
