These include inhibition of suzuki coupling reactions (a type of nucleophilic substitution reaction), as well as acylation reactions in which an acid reacts with an alcohol to form an ester, and pharmacokinetic properties. 4-Cyano-3-fluorophenol also has been shown to bind selectively to proteins, including those involved in protein–protein interactions.
