- Cefpiramide acid
Cefpiramide is a sulfonamide antibiotic that belongs to the group of cephalosporin antibiotics. It is an experimental drug which has been shown in vitro to be soluble in human serum and tissue. Cefpiramide inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, similar to other cephalosporins. The drug has been shown to have antimicrobial properties against Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium perfringens. Cefpiramide has also demonstrated activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. This drug is not active against acid-fast bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex.
