Name:4-(4-Chlorophenoxy)phenol
Synonyme:
- 4-Chloro-4'-hydroxydiphenyl ether
Marke:Biosynth
Beschreibung:4-(4-Chlorophenoxy)phenol (4CPP) is a sulphone that has the ability to undergo photolysis. It can be used in a photochemical reaction with hydroquinone to produce 4-chloro-2,2-diphenylacetophenone (2,2'-bithiophene). The 2,2'-bithiophene can then be oxidized by light or alkali metal salts and undergo nucleophilic addition. The final product of this pathway is 2-methylthioanisole. 4CPP binds to the nucleophile at an oxygen atom and displaces an alkali metal ion from the adjacent carbon atom. This process is called a displacement reaction. 4CPP also has the ability to undergo photolysis when exposed to UV light or a light source. This process produces free radicals that are short lived and react with oxygen in air to form peroxy radicals such as hydroxyl radicals and hydrogen per
