• Beschreibung: 3-Cyclopentylpropanal is a butanoate that is used as an antithrombotic. It has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of the enzyme hexokinase. 3-Cyclopentylpropanal also inhibits nitrous oxide-induced platelet aggregation, suggesting an antiplatelet effect at high concentrations. The compound has also been shown to have antithrombotic effects in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting blood coagulation through inhibition of protein kinase C (PKC) and thrombin formation. 3-Cyclopentylpropanal is also able to inhibit the activity of other enzymes such as alcohol dehydrogenase, acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, and cyclooxygenase 1.
