Cinchonidine Sulfate Dihydrate is a fluorescent compound that is used as a viscosity agent and has potent inhibitory activity. It can be used as an amine-decoupling agent, which prevents the formation of urea or ammonia by removing the amines from the reaction mixture. This product is also used in the synthesis of chitosan quaternary ammonium, an absorber for liquid chromatography and gel permeation chromatography. Cinchonidine Sulfate Dihydrate is also used as a bitter substance to make medicines more palatable. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on ipecac and benzoates, which are substances found in some plants that cause vomiting and nausea.
