Fluorescein is attached to the 2CFPAA molecule and binds to specific antibodies that are bound to antigen particles. The binding of fluorescein to the antigen causes an increase in fluorescence polarization, which can be measured with a fluorometer and quantified by measuring the degree of polarization.
