Beschreibung

Ethyl 2,5-dioxopyrrole-1-carboxylate is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be an efficient method for the preparation of copolymers. The reaction proceeds by reacting ethyl 2,5-dioxopyrrole-1-carboxylate with copolymerizable compounds such as orotic acid, amines, and maleimide. The copolymers are synthesized using a polymerization technique called atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The molecular weight of the resulting polymer can be controlled by varying the ratio of ethyl 2,5-dioxopyrrole-1-carboxylate to monomer. Ethyl 2,5-dioxopyrrole-1-carboxylate is also used in elemental analyses and viscosity measurements.
