Beschreibung

2,4-Dichlorophenyl isocyanate (2,4-DNC) is a synthetic mesomeric compound that can be synthesized from 2,4-dichlorophenol and urea. The crystal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction to be a monoclinic system with space group P21/c. The hydroxyl group in the molecule makes it susceptible to hydrogen bonding, which can make it more potent as an antioxidant. 2,4-DNC has shown potential as a decarboxylase inhibitor when coupled with betaines. It is also used in pharmacological profiles and diffraction studies on hydrogen bonds.
