Beschreibung:
The antimicrobial activity of 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. The insensitivity of 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside to lactose is due to its resistance to hydrolysis by lactase. This drug has been used in experiments with wild type bacteria, which have shown that this compound can be transformed into a second generation antibiotic by increasing the concentration of nitrophenol, or by inactivating it with antibiotics.
