5-(Difluoromethyl)-8-oxo-5,8-dihydro[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]quinoline-7-carboxylic acid is a novel corrosion inhibitor that has been shown to have a safety profile. In vitro data indicate that this compound may be active against streptococci and staphylococci. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins. 5-(Difluoromethyl)-8-oxo-5,8-dihydro[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]quinoline-7-carboxylic acid has been shown to be effective in animal models of chronic myeloid leukemia and in reducing the incidence of psychotic disorders in women.
