Beschreibung

4,4-Difluorocyclohexan-1-ol is a modification of cyclohexanol with the fluorine atom in the 4th position. It has been shown to have antibacterial properties against Gram-positive bacteria. The conformational studies of 4,4-difluorocyclohexan-1-ol have revealed that it may be active against gram negative bacteria by binding to the bacterial enzyme adenylate kinase. This molecule also possesses pharmacokinetic properties and a pharmacokinetic study has shown that it has a half life of 1.5 hours and can be detected in plasma for up to 12 hours after administration. It has also been found to possess antibacterial activity against Gram positive bacteria when used in combination with benzoate, which is present in urine.
