This product is also a Grignard reagent and can be used in the synthesis of styrene from benzene. 3,3-Diphenylpropan-1-ol has shown antibacterial activity against gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus; it is not active against gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli.
