Beschreibung

Diethyl pyrocarbonate (DEP) is a chemical that inhibits the activity of histidine. It has been shown to bind to the ryanodine receptor and polymerase chain, inhibiting protein synthesis. DEP has also been shown to have biological properties such as inhibition of human immunoglobulin synthesis and structural analysis. The modification of proteins with DEP is a common technique in structural biology for obtaining x-ray crystal structures of proteins.
