Beschreibung:
1-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)propan-2-ol is a carbonyl compound that is an optical and reaction product. It can be obtained from the reduction of 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde with sodium borohydride in the presence of ethanol. The reduction of 1-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)propan-2-ol by kluyveromyces lactis has been shown to have high yield and efficiency. This compound is used as an active substance in pharmaceuticals and as a reagent in organic synthesis. It has also been found to be present at low concentrations in cryptococcus sp. and microorganism isolates.
