Produktinformation
1,3-Dicyclohexylimidazolium chloride is a synthetic chemical that can be used in cancer therapy. It is the first example of an imidazolium cation that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of glyoxalase I, an enzyme involved in the conversion of glyoxal to D-lactate. 1,3-Dicyclohexylimidazolium chloride has shown anticancer activity against prostate and breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. This compound also inhibits serine proteases such as plasmin and cathepsin B. Studies have shown that 1,3-dicyclohexylimidazolium chloride inhibits mitochondrial matrix enzymes such as succinate dehydrogenase and cytochrome c oxidase. The protonation state is important for determining the reactivity of this molecule with other biomolecules.
