2,3-Dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin-5-ol is a chemical compound that has been found to outperform the current drugs in use for cytochrome P450 monooxygenase. It is an efficient and selective inhibitor of the enzyme and can be used as a lead compound for the development of more potent inhibitors. This drug has been shown to be highly effective in inhibiting the cytochrome P450 monooxygenase enzyme with IC50 values below 1 μM. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to decreased levels of carcinogenic nitrosamines and other compounds that are generated by the metabolism of drugs.
