Beschreibung

3-(Dimethylamino)propane-1,2-diol is a quaternary ammonium compound that can be used as an antibacterial agent. 3-(Dimethylamino)propane-1,2-diol has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to their cell membranes and inhibiting protein synthesis. It also causes the release of amines from cells and inhibits the production of chloride ions. 3-(Dimethylamino)propane-1,2-diol has been shown to have no effect on copper oxide or blood pressure in rats. The morphology of 3-(dimethylamino)propane-1,2-diol consists of a mixture of white crystals and a clear liquid.
