Beschreibung

2,2-Dimethyl succinic anhydride is a monomer that is used in the synthesis of gramicidin. It has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo against human cervical carcinoma (HeLa) cells. 2,2-Dimethyl succinic anhydride inhibits cancer cell growth by disrupting the mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibiting the production of ATP. This agent also inhibits the uptake of glucose and amino acids by cancer cells by interfering with their ability to transport these substances across the plasma membrane. The anticancer activity of 2,2-dimethyl succinic anhydride is enhanced when it is used with other agents such as doxorubicin or paclitaxel.
