Beschreibung

Ethyl 3-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-oxopropanoate is a chromatographically pure pyrimidine derivative that has been synthesized by the reaction of ethyl acetoacetate with 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde. This compound has shown vasodilator activity in vitro and in vivo as well as anti-platelet activity and is used for diagnostic purposes. It has been shown to inhibit cyclooxygenase enzymes in vitro and to inhibit platelet aggregation in vivo. The binding constants of this compound have been determined to be 1.2 x 10^9 M^-1 for human serum albumin and 2.8 x 10^5 M^-1 for platelets, suggesting that it may be useful for the treatment of cerebrovascular disease, heart disease, or other diseases involving platelet aggregation.
