3,4-Dimethyl-2-iodobenzoicacid is a xanthone that binds to the ATP binding site of the enzyme and inhibits its activity. 3,4-Dimethyl-2-iodobenzoicacid is also able to inhibit tumor growth by inhibiting the production of DNA and RNA. This compound has been found to be a promising antitumor agent in vivo and in vitro. 3,4-Dimethyl-2-iodobenzoicacid has been synthesized for the first time in 1965 and is centrosymmetric.
