Beschreibung

Dimethylcysteamine hydrochloride is a quinoline derivative that is used as an industrial chemical intermediate. The compound reacts with hydrochloric acid to form dimethylcysteamine hydrochloride, which is the active pharmaceutical ingredient in the drug Dimetapp. Dimetapp is used for the treatment of bronchitis and other respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia. It also has been shown to be effective against staphylococcus bacteria, specifically those that are resistant to erythromycin and methicillin. The ring-opening reaction product of dimethylcysteamine hydrochloride with pleuromutilin produces pleuromutilin derivatives. These compounds have been shown to have antibacterial effects on Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex.
