Beschreibung:
2,2'-Dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridine is a pyridyl arene with a dihedral angle of 67.5°. It is used as an intermediate for the production of other compounds. 2,2'-Dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridine has been shown to have stacking properties in crystals and can be stabilized by the presence of Lewis acids or bases at high temperatures. This molecule has a crystal structure that is stabilized by hydrogen bonding between the arene and pyridyl groups. The crystal structure of 2,2'-dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridine has been determined using X-ray diffraction techniques on single crystals.
