Dichlorovinyl-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane is a chemical with high stability and resistance to degradation. It has been shown to be an effective insecticide in the control of mosquitoes, as well as other pest insects. Dichlorovinyl-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane is a potent inhibitor of lipid biosynthesis, which has been shown to have sublethal effects on invertebrates. It also inhibits the synthesis of c1-c4 haloalkyl compounds, which are used as control agents for insects. Dichlorovinyl-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane also inhibits sodium channels in Xenopus oocytes and prevents the release of calcium ions from the ryanodine receptor.
