Beschreibung

Dextrorphan is a chemical that is structurally related to the opioid dextromethorphan. It has been shown to act as a non-selective antagonist of opioid receptors, with an affinity for the mu and kappa receptors. Dextrorphan has also been shown to inhibit the transcriptional activity of response elements. The matrix effect is a phenomenon where the presence of substances in the extracellular matrix can interfere with drug transport through the membrane, which may result in a lower concentration of drugs reaching their target site. Dextrorphan may also act as a transporter or competitive inhibitor of drug transporters such as P-glycoprotein.
